Proudly serving the Rocklin community for over thirty years!
Clarks Corner has a rich history that began with M.S. Clark Roofing, Buck's Traeger BBQs, and Clark & Corona Photography. As a family-owned business, we are always evolving, and in 2024 we are excited to announce that we will be expanding our services beyond just a retail boutique to support and connect with more local makers and artists. Along with our passion for craftsmanship, we will be incorporating food, music and various art forms to create a vibrant community hub. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
In April 2019, Mike Clark suffered a severe stroke and never fully recovered. After over thirty years in business, the family made the tough decision to dissolve their roofing company as Mike was the heart and soul behind it. On September 2, 2022 Mike's artificial heart valve got stuck open. Many never knew he had this condition. As a life long roofer, he was extremely fit and for over three decades he managed his condition so well no one could tell that his health was anything but robust. He passed away surrounded by the people he loved most. Please have patience with us as we try to find our bearings through this loss.
Mike Clark started roofing back when he was fifteen. At age sixteen he was doing roofs in Palm Springs and fell in love with the art of clay tile. Inspired by a trade few people can handle, Mike decided to make roofing his living. In his trainings he worked on all different types of roofs, from hot tar to wood shake to clay tile.
In 1983 Mike met Dawn in Clearlake where they had both grown up, becoming each other’s best friends. Soon they were roofing together as an unstoppable team. They had their first born Holly, followed by Brandi two years later. Wanting to escape Southern California, they moved to a small city called Rocklin in 1989.
While Mike was recovering from open-heart surgery he worked as an independent roofing consultant. Noticing that there was an inadequate roofing force in the area, Mike and Dawn established M.S. Clark Roofing in 1990.
For the next thirty years they would spend their lives working hard while always giving back to their community. If you take a drive down Front Street or Rocklin Road you are sure to make eye contact with one of the many roofs they installed. Mike and Dawn also owned Buck's Traeger BBQs that operated on Front Street for over a decade.
Holly Clark grew up in downtown Rocklin, always helping her family businesses throughout the years. While attending Sierra College she did roofing estimates and was involved in many community service organizations. When she decided to join the college newspaper she had no idea she would fall in love with photography.
After graduating she began to operate her own photography business, taking thousands of photos of weddings, events, portraits, pets and places. Her passions then took her to the Bay Area for a few years, where she grew a career at Peet’s Coffee and Tea. Family eventually brought her back to Rocklin. Over the last decade she has managed many stores, traveled to accounts all over, learning how to train and inspire large teams.
Like many others, the Clark Family continues to pivot through strokes, pandemics, death and whatever else is thrown their way. Although their roofing journey has come to an end, they look forward to serving their community through Clarks Corner.
